Hi there, My name is Gini Parslow, and I’m a keen songwriter/musician. I’m wondering whether you could pass the following information on to your musical networks? Many thanks for your assistance, Kind regards, Gini Parslow FOR SONGWRITERS WHO WANT TO GET HEARD— AND GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL Hit songwriter/best selling author/music publisher Jason Blume will present two 2-day songwriting seminars in 2010, in conjunction with New Zealand Music Month. The Auckland seminar will be 22-23 May and Wellington, 29-30 May. Jason has just returned from presenting an acclaimed master class at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (founded by Sir Paul McCartney), and has taught for universities and top songwriting organisations throughout the world. He combines his skills as a consummate teacher with the practical tools he's developed as a mega-successful, multi-genre songwriter to inspire songwriters; help them develop both their craft and their business sense - and achieve their dreams. Jason’s songs are on albums that have sold more than 50 million copies. He’s one of only a few writers to ever have songs on Billboard’s Pop, R&B and Country charts – all at the same time! His songs have been recorded in virtually all genres – from hard rock, to Christian and folk, with plenty of R&B and pop in between. Artists who have recorded Jason’s songs include Britney Spears, the Gipsy Kings, Jesse McCartney, the Backstreet Boys, top US country stars including the Oak Ridge Boys, Collin Raye and John Berry, and superstars throughout Europe and Japan. His songs have featured on top TV shows including “Scrubs” and “Friday Night Lights”, as well as in top movies. Jason is also the author of three of the bestselling books on songwriting – all published by Billboard Books – and he is acknowledged as one of the top songwriting instructors in the world. Jason analyses current hits to distill what makes songs successful and passes that information onto his students. This is by no means a “paint by numbers” method, but one whereby he teaches songwriters how to communicate their unique, personal truths in universal ways that engage listeners. He has a natural gift for motivating and inspiring others, whatever their dream may be. At the 2009 Taxi Road Rally songwriting convention in LA, Jason’s classes were beyond packed – and spilling out into the hallways. His monthly BMI songwriting seminars in Nashville are so popular they've had songwriters in line at 3 AM! Three of Jason’s students have enjoyed No. 1 hits on USA Billboard charts, and Jason himself recently had a song on an EP that hit No. 1 in Japan. Jason receives a lot more teaching invites than he accepts. Fortunately for New Zealanders, Jason loves New Zealand. Also fortunate for us, while being an extremely successful songwriter and author, Jason has discovered that he has a passion for teaching. Blume will perform and be interviewed on "Breakfast", TV1, on Monday 17th. Register and pay before the end of April and get $25 off the usual price (this is on top of discounts available for APRA members, students and unwaged). Get a group of eight attendees together, and the organiser comes free, while the other attendees pay only $150 each (or $125 each if they register before the end of April!). For more information please contact Gini Parslow on 021590788 or email gini@actrix.co.nz.
