‘Return of the Accordion, The Sequel’ NAMM Show, California - USAby |
![]() |
NAMM asked Roland to sponsor a tribute to the accordion recognizing the accordion’s return to popularity. The show ‘Accordion Palooza’ was located in the middle of the vast central lobby of the convention center. This is a huge area, and a transitional space between the two center halls. Large numbers of people were constantly walking through on their way to exhibits. It was fun to see one person after another stop to check out the accordion music. Cory Pesaturo started, backed by drummer Mike Snyder and keyboardist Rick DiPiro, and had the place rocking in no time. Following were Janet Hane and Wilma Rodriguez with popular Hispanic songs, finishing up receiving a rousing round of applause. Next was Roland’s artiste Luigi Bruti, who is also Roland’s Director V-Accordion Marketing. Luigi had accompaniment from midi files played through a Roland keyboard. Luigi in person was phenomenal, finessing every nuance out of the FR7, leaving the stage and continuing his presentation strolling through the crowd. This man knows how to hold the attention of an audience. Click and Listen to his performace on www.accordion-space4u.com Following was Eddie Monteiro, widely known for his jazz styles and his fingers that have their own PHd on the bass buttons. Eddie never needs a bassist - his left hand qualifies, and his coordination and combination of accordion, keyboards (modules) and vocal work was another bulls-eye for the Roland show. For the finale Cory and Eddie were back with Mike on drums and Rick on keyboard. This jam session designed to show everyone the orchestral sounds of Roland accordions, stopped traffic throughout the lobby. This show was an eye-opener. If anyone wondered about the future of the accordion in the 21st Century they got their answer that morning. The convention attendees that morning all had things to do, places to go, and deals to make--but Roland accordion music caught their attention - and held it. Friends I have said it before, and I’ll say it again: the accordion is back! |

Klezzmates Concerts – Poland, Germanyby Rob Howard |
![]() The Klezzmates website says: “In January 2005 we decided to form a band whose repertoire could put all our indyvidual music interests and experience together. Each of us had had a contact with klezmer music in its very broad aspect and its beauty and variety grabbed all our attention. For quite a long time we pondered over an idea of the band which would realize our own music ideas. This is how the program was born. It contains the most characteristic elements of Jewish and Balkan music (scales, rhythm, harmony). Using our former experience we have added jazz and classical touch. The final effect is our concept of klezmer music”.
