![]() ![]() The event is set for September 5th to 7th and the event organizer is Elio Bertolini. - Pasquale Coviello, from Naples, is an accordionist, composer and teacher. He has written two method tutors, and is currently writing a third, about jazz accordion. - Renzo Ruggieri, from Castelfidardo, is one of Italy’s leading jazz accordionists and an international artist. Renzo 10 CD's and eTracks mp3 albums and printed music online at: Renzo Ruggieri - Emilio Cervetto won several accordion competitions in Italy, and is renowned as a great interpreter of the classics on accordion. - Raul Varelli, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, has since 1975 run his own very successful accordion school, and he also has enjoyed a long career as a performer. - Dr Mario Javier Braun, from Rosario, Argentina, has become well known in South America for his understanding of digital accordions. |
Nihad Hrustanbegovic New Album, New Projects - Netherlandsby Harley Jones |
![]() Nihad Hrustanbegovic has his next concert on Sunday 14th of September, at the Filmhuis in Zevenaar. The concert title is: ‘20 Years in The Netherlands’. Nihad Hrustanbegovic was asked by the Dutch record company Zefir Records to record 'The Four Seasons' of Antonio Vivaldi on accordion and preparations are now in full swing. The album with Nihad's transcription of The Four Seasons, will be released on the 1st December 2014 and will also include works by Bach, Pachelbel and Albinoni. Following the release of ‘The Four Seasons’, will be a number of promotional events to take place in Europe during 2015/16. Another project is soundtracks composed by Nihad Hrustanbegovic for a documentary titled ‘The Animal Farm’. This is a documentary by Jack Janssen who is known for films “The price of heaven” (nomination Prix Europa 2012), “Aya Sofya Amsterdam” and “Fairuz – We loved each other so much”. The Animal Farm will be released in 2015. Also accordion soundtracks composed by Jorrit Kleijnen and played by Nihad Hrustanbegovic are being recorded for the new TV series “Taart” (Cake) by Tallulah Hazekamp Schwab. ‘Taart’ will broadcast every Sunday at 9.00 am, at Ned 3 from the 7th September. ‘Taart’ is an ode to love and imagination. The story is about 8 year old Kadir, who wants to become a pole traveler. He knows everything about penguins and he has an indestructible perseverance. His father Umut is the best confectioner in the world, but since his wife passed away, he is always sad. Kadir tries everything to make his father happy again. ![]() ![]() CMA President Frédéric Deschamps (picture right) states “we are delighted to be visiting Lithuania and the town of Kaunas for the first time, venue for our Trophée Mondial 2014.” The International jury will be extremely busy since the festival, has attracted some 120 entrants in the various categories, the contestants attending from over 20 different countries including USA, Brasil, China, Russia and all over Europe. As in previous years the event will be broadcast live in its entirety on the Web. 15th Las Vegas International Accordion Convention - A Grand Success! - USAby Rita Barnea |

![]() ![]() Over 40 classes were offered during the next three full days of the event. Performances by “Of One Accord”, a 10 piece accordion ensemble from Alberta Canada directed by Margaret Miller, Alicia Baker wowed the audience and concluded in duet with Michael Bridge. Stas Venglevski performed with charismatic style only to be eclipsed by the duets he performed with Joan Cochran Sommers! That evening the presentations were made to Stas as Honorary Conductor and a special Lifetime Achievement Award to Gina Brannelli. Wednesday was another day full of classes with lunch music by Chuck Henry and event organiser Paul Pasquali. That evening was dancing with the music by Gordon Kohl and Chuck Henry, a jazz accordion set by Ron Borelli followed by an unforgettable concert with Joey Miskulin backed by bass, drums and clarinet. Thursday was filled with classes and lunch music by Elena & Gregory Fainshtein and Pete Barbutti with his signature brand of humor. The Gala concert started with Michael Bridge, who received several standing ovations. Joan Sommers conducted the orchestra and wowed audience with a varied program - a true example that there is nothing like live music done right! After the concert nearly everyone was at Club Concerto saying goodbye to friends, new and old. |

‘14 Years Ago’: Tribute to Wolmer Beltrami (1922-1999) - Italyby Rob Howard |
The Accordions Worldwide news for the week ending September 8th 2000 included a report of a concert paying tribute to Wolmer Beltrami (1922-99), regared by many as one of the accordion ‘greats’ of the 20th Century. A highly versatile accordionist and composer, renowned for his duo work with fellow Italian accordionist Gorni Kramer in the 1940s/50s, Beltrami latterly became closely involved with the cinema, recording numerous film soundtracks. Tribute to Wolmer Beltrami – Italy Contributed by Holda Paoletti-Kampl A tribute to one of the greatest Italian accordionists of all times, Wolmer Beltrami, was recently held in Breda Cisoni (province of Mantua). Beltrami died on August 28th last year and was universally praised for his performing skills, particularly in classical music and jazz, which earned him the prestigious ‘World Accordion Oscar’. The musical tribute was given by well-known personalities of the accordion world including Renzo Ruggieri with his group, Paolo Picchio's Milonga Quintet, Luigi Lombardi, Massimiliano Pitocco, Adolfo Del Cont, Valentino Lorenzetti, Gervasio Marcosignori, and Giancarlo Caporilli. |

![]() Alan Bern communicates enormous enthusiasm, knowledge and skill in his charismatic teaching sessions on klezmer music. Alan was one of the stalwarts and developers of the Jewish Music Institute’s KlezFest and this is one of his rare visits to London. Alan Bern is the musical director of Brave Old World and has been one of the leading lights in the teaching and revival of Yiddish music in the USA, Canada, and Europe since the early 1980s. He has played with the Klezmer Conservatory Band, Andy Statman, the Klezmatics, Kapelye, Theodore Bikel, and many others, and is currently part of a duo with accordionist Guy Klucevsek, a trio with trumpeter Paul Brody and guitarist Michael Rodach, a quartet ‘Brave Old World’ with Michael Alpert, Kurt Bjorling and Stuart Brotman. and a septet with Aaron Alexander, Paul Brody, Alex Kontorovich, Cesar Lerner, Martin Lillich, and Marcelo Moguilevsky. Since the 1990s he has been consultant and/or faculty at many international festivals and workshops of Yiddish music and he is currently the Program Director of Yiddish Summer Weimar. His contributions to Yiddish music have been cited in important books on the revival of Jewish music, such as American Klezmer by Mark Slobin, The Essential Klezmer by Seth Rogovoy, and Virtually Jewish by Ruth Ellen Gruber. |

![]() Austin, Texas – September 3, 2014 – This year marks Texas Folklife’s 30th anniversary. The non-profit began in 1984 with a handful of committed, young folklorists who sought to preserve the traditional culture of the state. Since that time, Texas Folklife has preserved and presented the diverse cultures and living heritage of the Lone Star State, honored the cultural traditions passed down in communities across the state, and helped to explore those traditions importance in contemporary society. There will be a year long celebration of the 30th anniversary with exhibits, talks, seminars and of course lots of music. |

![]() Since 2006 Falcetti Music in Springfield, Massachusetts has scheduled two major events each year with 50 to 75 attendees. These events included workshop, concerts by Roland artists, and Roland customer performances. The workshop portion of the event will be presented by Sam Falcetti, founder of Falcetti Music. Included in the Entertainment performance section will be performers who played at the ” Accordions Now Festival” held at the Nashua N.H. Marriott in August. Also on the agenda 9 year old Angela Falcetti will be featured on the Roland FR1X. Angela has been playing the accordion for 3 years and is no stranger to performing and competing. She performs at many venues in the greater Springfield area and was also the recipient of several trophies at both the ATAM and AAA Festivals.
