Jon Hammond Trio @ Smiley’s, California – USAby Rob Howard |
![]() The California Historical Society lists Smiley’s as one of only fourteen bars in the state to be in continuous existence for over 100 years. The saloon is believed to have been built in 1851 for the energetic young Captain Isaac Morgan. Captain Morgan arrived in Bolinas (or Jugville as it was known then) in 1849. Those were gold rush days, days of growth. Those were days when one gambled with one’s dreams and then watched them either shatter and splinter or be crafted and honed into realities. ![]() |
We are pleased to announce that Siwa & Figli Accordions in Casteflidardo has joined the Accordions Worldwide client group. In 1985 Ivan Stanojlovic started his accordion manufacturing company in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. In the 1990s Ivan Stanojlovic made many trips to italy in the pursuit of the best quality materials and assemblies for his accordions. Soon it became clear that there could be no better place to craft accordions than the town of Castelfidardo in Italy, the accordion capital of the world. In 2005 SIWA was reborn in Castelfidardo under the name "Siwa & Figli di Stanojlovic Ivan". Each Siwa & Figli accordion is entirely hand made in Italy with the best quality materials. Enjoy their music! |

Trinity/Guildhall Accordion Syllabus Under Threat, London - UKby | Modify | Delete |
Many accordionists in the UK have over the years selflessly sought to get the accordion recognised and put on equal footing with other musical instruments. This is something that unites all accordionists - recognition and respect for the instrument. In 2005 Trinity/Guildhall introduced a standard bass and free bass syllabus for accordion, assessed on the same criteria as other instrumentalists. This was important as Trinity/Guildhall is a government accredited syllabus, and recognized internationally. Though there has been some take up it has not been sufficient, and Trinity/Guildhall has therefore decided to drop it for something watered down and in my opinion, frankly pointless. Email me at romanoviazzani@btconnect.com for further information concerning the new proposed syllabus. Please, please, please do something for your instrument and write a short message to this email address info@trinitycollege.co.uk to save our accordion original syllabus. Maybe if we all pull together we can do something worthwhile for our young accordionists and people who are new to the instrument. If we bombard them with enough messages they might see the potential in the instrument to keep the original syllabus going. It's surely worth a try. |
